Monica Poston

Hello! I am a New Haven based music educator, composer, and performer. Currently, I am a certified music teacher in New Haven, CT. I recently earned my Master of Science in Music Education from the University of Bridgeport, where I was honored with the 2025 Outstanding Academic Achievement in Music Education award and inducted into the Phi Kappa Phi Honor Society. Following graduation, I joined the University of Bridgeport faculty as an adjunct professor directing the University Singers, where I integrate a complete musical theatre repertoire into the undergraduate choir. Other training includes a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Music Theatre from Elon University and lyric and book writing courses at the Musical Creators’ Institute (MCI) in NYC.

On top of being a performer, I am also a new music theatre composer. On January 6th, 2020, I premiered a cabaret with twelve original musical theatre songs. Some of my compositions have continued to be sung in renowned NYC cabaret venues since. Head on over to "Original Music" to check them out!

Some recent performance highlights include playing Miss Honey in Matilda with the Los Alamos Light Opera, the first national tour of the musical American Girl Live!, regional and amusement park musical theatre work, and cabarets and musical presentations in NYC.

At Elon, I was last seen as Jo in Little Women. Before that, I music directed and choreographed two numbers in Elon University Presents: Grand Night which can also be found under VIDEOS. I directed Elon Cares: Broadways Equity Fights AIDs which featured works I arranged. Other Elon Credits can be found on my resume.
